Andrea Hasler: Irreducable Complexity

Thursday, 1 December 2011

I came across this exhibition earlier today whilst on my travels in brick lane to find scrap leather. A small room containing 3 pieces of works by Andrea Hasler. Originally from Zurich but based in London for the past 14 years, Andrea graduated at the chelsea college of art and design with a masters in fine art back in 2002. Her current work: Irreducable Complexity  'confronts us with all that is human. These sculptures speak of unity and discrepancy, beauty and debauchery and ultimately hope.' - Andrea Hasler.
Personally when I first saw the pieces of art I was like what the hell! Big lumps of wax with legs attached. But no take a closer look and you will see the delicate work that has gone into the work. The life-like legs, the male and female feet. See how life-like the legs look in the photo? An interesting little exhibition, pop in if youre in the brick lane area. Perfect for those of you who enjoy the extra-ordinary!
